The presentation will briefly examine how the rapid convergence of technology and the integration of location based technologies into the broad consumer space can provide benefit to the activities of governments. It will examine the drivers for this technology convergence and how public expectations are increasing as a consequence of these technological advances. The presentation will look at an historical example of the benefits to society that arise from linking technology to a location based framework and perhaps how this may provide a model for us today to ensure we extract greater benefits from the technologies available to us in the delivery of government programs. The establishment of a location based framework to help better inform our responses to our major national issues will be examined.
