In 2008 the Department of Natural Resources and Water (NRW) commissioned a major review into its Spatial Information (SI) operations. The purpose of the review was to take a strategic look at the business directions, priorities, functions and business alignments for SI activities, both with the Department and with external parties across the Queensland Government and industry. Over one hundred internal and external stakeholders involved in the delivery and use of NRW's spatial information were consulted.
The review has identified a range of areas where the management and delivery of spatial information could be enhanced through: better coordination of its resource inputs; improved client focus; increased online delivery of products and services; systems rationalisation; and improved capacity to capture and manage data.
The presentation will summarise the findings and outcomes of the review which includes the formation of a new Spatial Information Group for Queensland.
