Using spatial technology to help solve social policy issues

Over 50 per cent of the Australian Government's annual budget is allocated to social security, welfare and health. With Australia facing an aging population it is predicted that the pressure on the federal budget will increase significantly in these areas. It is, therefore, important for the government to find ways to increase the efficiency and targeting of services in these areas. A spatially-based approach to service delivery by government would help improve policy and decision-making in this area.
