Background
ANZLIC—the Spatial Information Council, the Office of Spatial Data Management and the ACT Government are hosting a Workshop on the Introduction to the ANZLIC Spatial Resource Discovery and Access Toolkit in Canberra on Monday 17 August 2009. The Canberra event is part of a national series of workshops to promote the Toolkit.
ANZLIC, as part of its Spatial Resource Discovery and Access Program, has released a Toolkit that will facilitate the location and access of spatial data and services provided by organisations in Australia and New Zealand. This capability has been developed by the Office of Spatial Data Management in support of ANZLIC’s Program.
The Spatial Resource Discovery & Access Toolkit aims to provide an introduction to discovery and access of predominantly spatial resources, with a user friendly tool that will directly suit the smaller organisations. Additionally, the Toolkit provides useful material for many of the sectors who wish to improve discovery and access to their data and resources.
The Toolkit is freely available and comprises:
- ANZMet Lite: a tool for producing labels (metadata) to describe your resources
- An introduction to metadata: how to find your resources and the value that it provides to your organisation
- How to publish your metada
- Resources available to your jurisdiction
- Information on how to join the Toolkit Forum
All participants will receive a CD containing the ANZMET Lite tool, the Introduction to Metadata and the User Guide. Additional copies of the CD will also be available.
